The excursion is in collaboration with the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and the ICEMOOSE project. Along with a local guide, this safari takes you through magnificent mountain sceneries. You get to learn about the animals living in the Lappish mountain world, what affect the moose has on the Swedish mountain climate and how to trace their tracks. Transfer and lunch with local ingredients is included. Those interested learning about and photographing wild life and the arctic scenery, this is the perfect safari.

Join an exciting safari to the mountain forest with the opportunity to encounter arctic wild life like moose and grouse. We might even see tracks from large predators such as wolverines and lynx. During the day we travel by snowmobile through the pristine mountain forest, a frozen world full of life. If the weather permits, we will go up the mountains to learn more about the living conditions for the mountain residents: wolverine, reindeer, hare and grouse. The journey will take you through magnificent mountain scenery with the Swedish mountain's highest peak Kebnekaise as the western outpost, mountains that influence our climate and living conditions.
During the safari we will learn more about how to interpret tracks in the snow, nature's own dictionary. The tour is led by local guides with great knowledge of the flora and fauna in this area, and in harmony with the local inhabitant and reindeer herders. The length of the tour will be determined by the season and weather conditions which also influence the appearance of the unique winter light north of the Arctic Circle. This is a unique opportunity for the photography enthusiasts. Lunch with local ingredients will be served during or in connection with the safari, the location will be determined by weather and season. This safari offers a unique opportunity to learn more about the arctic mountains and wild life.
Part of the surplus is dedicated to the project.

Departures: Daily 9 am-3 pm.
Info: The tour starts and ends with a transfer between ICEHOTEL and the starting point for the snowmobile. It is approx. 45 min transfer per way. Local guide, lunch, driving- and safety instruction, approx. 4-6 h snowmobile driving 2 p/snowmobile, information about the wild life in the area and their tracks, several opportunities for photographing.
